My Brooklyn

From “Goodbye Old World“ Series

My Brooklyn is a painting and series of photographs Melody Hesaraky did in Brooklyn from 2019 to 2023. Photographs of different places and people in Brooklyn and a living hand painted map of her surroundings.

This painting was drawn delicately by emotions and intelligence. It is bringing focus on spots, signs, people and streets that extend infinity into the distance. The streets depicted embody a sense of journey, extending infinitely into the horizon, inviting contemplation on the paths we traverse in life. Shadows and light play together, creating a dialogue between the familiar and the unknown, while the details coax out personal reflections, making the artwork not just a visual experience, but an emotional exploration.
Sitting on my fire scape in Brooklyn

It is like I’m listening to a symphony

lights appearing and disappearing

Hearing the sound of summer breeze blowing where it wishes to

People and cars becoming part of the rhythm

And I see the harmony beneath these thick brown bricks

What a beautiful symphony … what a beautiful symphony
